Labuan Bajo Cruise Booking: Embarkation Guide 2026

**Labuan Bajo cruise booking starts at Komodo Airport (LBJ), the west-Flores gateway to Komodo National Park. Arunika Cruises, operated by Komodo Luxury, runs comfort-class small-ship voyages from Labuan Bajo harbour. Arrive one day early, check in 09:00–09:30 at our office, then sail at 10:00 sharp (as of 2026).**

Where do Labuan Bajo cruises actually depart from?

Labuan Bajo sits on the west tip of Flores in East Nusa Tenggara, and operators across the region describe it as the gateway to Komodo National Park. Your air gateway is Komodo Airport, IATA code LBJ. From the runway you are minutes from the water: Le Pirate reports roughly a 10-minute taxi from the airport to its town office on Jalan Soekarno Hatta near the harbour, and Aqua Expeditions cites about a 15-minute transfer between the Le Bajo Flores port and Komodo Airport.

Arunika Cruises boards its comfort-class small ships from Labuan Bajo harbour. Every scheduled voyage begins at our town office, where the crew checks you in, stores luggage, and walks you to the jetty. This page owns the embarkation side of your trip — where you board, when to arrive, and how to reserve. For the on-water itinerary through [Komodo, Rinca and Padar](/komodo-cruise/), or the [crossing into Komodo from Bali and Lombok](/to-komodo-cruise/), follow those route pages.

Why should you arrive in Labuan Bajo a day early?

Flights into LBJ connect through Bali and are prone to delays. Operators across Labuan Bajo, Arunika included, strongly advise arriving one full day before departure. A morning cruise that leaves at 10:00 sharp will not hold the jetty for a delayed inbound flight, and missing the boat means forfeiting a largely non-refundable fare.

Arriving the night before lets you absorb any schedule slip, settle into a harbour hotel, and reach the 09:00 check-in unhurried. It also gives the concierge time to confirm your Komodo National Park entry and finalise your port transfer from town to jetty.

What does the check-in and departure timeline look like?

Arunika follows the standard Labuan Bajo scheduled-departure rhythm (as of 2026):

  • Meeting time: 09:00–09:30 at our town office
  • Departure: 10:00 sharp from the harbour
  • Return: around 15:00 on the final day

Our weekly patterns mirror the market reference set by Le Pirate Explorer: a 3 days / 2 nights voyage departs Monday and returns Wednesday around 15:00, while a 4 days / 3 nights voyage departs Thursday and returns Sunday around 15:00. Plan your return flight for late afternoon or the following morning, never the same early afternoon you disembark.

What can you book from Labuan Bajo?

Public per-person prices in the comfort small-ship category are quote-based rather than listed, so the fares below read “on quote” and are confirmed in writing when you reserve. All figures are current as of 5 July 2026 and subject to change.

Voyage Duration Departs → Returns Route highlights Cabin Fare basis
Komodo core loop 3D2N Mon → Wed ~15:00 Komodo, Rinca, Padar sunrise hike, Pink Beach Ensuite double / twin On quote; park fees separate
Komodo + wider arc 4D3N Thu → Sun ~15:00 Adds Manta Point and extra anchorages Ensuite double / twin On quote; park fees separate
Eastbound Flores arc 5D4N+ Private, flexible dates Riung 17 Islands, Ende, Maumere, Larantuka Ensuite cabins On quote; private charter
Full-ship buyout 3D2N–8D7N Any date Any route, families welcome Whole vessel On quote; buyout

For contrast only: budget open-deck “deck class” boats out of Lombok run near IDR 1.5 million per person and often carry 40-plus passengers. That is a different product. Arunika sells only ensuite comfort cabins and never open-deck sleep-aboards.

Note the reverse option, too. Aqua Expeditions markets an all-inclusive 7-night Bali-to-Komodo voyage that leaves Benoa Cruise Ship Terminal at 15:00 and disembarks at Le Bajo Flores at 08:00 — arriving at, rather than departing from, Labuan Bajo. If Bali-side boarding suits your flights better, ask the concierge.

How does booking and payment work?

Booking follows the Labuan Bajo market norm documented by Le Pirate (as of 2026). Here is the sequence:

  1. Enquire and choose. Message the Komodo Luxury concierge with your dates, route and cabin class. Because pricing is quote-based, you receive a written per-person fare.
  2. Secure your cabin. A 10% non-refundable deposit locks your place.
  3. Understand the balance. A further 25% is refundable only if you cancel 14 or more days before departure. The final 65%, plus Komodo National Park entrance fees, is non-refundable and due 14 days before you sail.
  4. Prepare. Book flights into LBJ arriving one day early, arrange travel insurance covering cancellation, medical emergencies and disruption (strongly recommended), and confirm your port transfer.
  5. Board. Check in 09:00–09:30 at the office; the ship departs at 10:00.

Shared scheduled departures carry a minimum age of 16. Families travelling with younger children book a private charter or full-ship buyout instead.

What about Komodo National Park fees?

Komodo National Park entrance fees are a separate line item paid on top of your cruise fare, and they are non-refundable. The park is managed by Balai Taman Nasional Komodo under Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). Exact fee tables are not publicly citable and change from time to time, so the concierge quotes the current amount at booking. Treat any figure you see elsewhere as subject to change and confirm it before you pay the balance.

When is the best time to sail from Labuan Bajo?

Plan around the April-to-September sailing window. Aqua Expeditions sails the Bali–Komodo–Flores region April to September only, avoiding the harsh weather conditions the rest of the year, and independent guides name April to June as the sweet spot for lush landscapes, fewer crowds and clearer underwater visibility at Manta Point. Book early for the May–August peak, when cabins on the weekly departures fill fastest.
