Why do eastbound east-Flores cruises price differently?
Two things drive an east-Flores fare above a western Komodo-only cruise: distance and remoteness. A Komodo core loop stays close to Labuan Bajo, which multiple operators (Le Pirate among them) describe as “the gateway to Komodo National Park.” An eastbound voyage keeps sailing past Rinca and Padar toward the Riung 17 Islands, then on to Ende, Maumere and, on the longest arcs, Larantuka.
More sea miles mean more fuel, more crew days and more provisioning carried aboard, because resupply points thin out fast once you leave the Labuan Bajo cluster. Remoter anchorages also carry a comfort premium: an ensuite cabin, fixed departure and full galley on a route with few resupply ports simply costs more to operate per night than a two-night Komodo turnaround.
Season narrows the window further.
