Flores Expedition Cruise Booking
**Booking a Flores expedition cruise means reserving an ensuite cabin on a naturalist-led small ship that sails beyond Komodo’s day-trip zone — east past Riung’s 17 Islands toward Ende and Maumere. Arunika Cruises, operated by Komodo Luxury, holds each departure with a 10% deposit; exact routes, cabins and per-person prices are quoted at enquiry.**
Arunika Cruises is operated by Komodo Luxury, a Labuan Bajo operator founded in 2015, with reservations handled directly by its team. Every figure below is current as of 5 July 2026 and subject to change — confirm the live number when you book.
What makes a Flores cruise an “expedition,” not a standard cruise?
A standard Labuan Bajo cruise loops the same postcard stops — Komodo, Rinca, Padar’s sunrise hike, Pink Beach and Manta Point — over two or three days, then returns you to port. An expedition cruise keeps sailing east along the Ring-of-Fire coastline most day boats never reach.
Three things separate the two:
- Range. Expedition legs push past the Komodo core into the eastern Flores arc — Riung’s 17 Islands marine reserve, then Ende and Maumere for volcanic and cultural shore excursions, with the longest voyages continuing toward Larantuka.
- A naturalist on board. Guides who read reef, tide and wildlife behaviour rather than simply ferrying you between photo stops.
- Cabin comfort as the baseline. Every Arunika berth is an ensuite cabin — private bathroom, air-conditioning, proper bedding — never an open-deck mattress.
Adventure Life’s roundup of the “4 Best Labuan Bajo Small Ship Cruises for 2026” and Aqua Expeditions’ April-to-September sailing calendar both confirm the comfort small-ship category Arunika works in.
What does an ensuite expedition cabin include?
Each cabin is booked as a private, lockable room with an ensuite bathroom, individually controlled air-conditioning and a made-up double or twin bed. Larger vessels add suite-grade cabins with more floor space and picture windows. Because voyages are sold by route and cabin class, you choose the deck and category that fits your budget — not a shared deck slot. For the full room-by-room breakdown, see our [Flores cruise cabin classes](/flores-cruise-cabin-classes/) page.
Which routes and durations can you book?
Public per-person prices in this market are quote-based, not listed, so the table shows the option set and how each is priced rather than a fixed rate.
| Voyage & route | Duration | Scheduled rhythm | Cabin | Price basis (as of 5 Jul 2026) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Komodo core loop, round-trip Labuan Bajo (Komodo, Rinca, Padar, Pink Beach, Manta Point) | 3D2N | Mon depart, Wed return ~15:00* | Ensuite twin/double | Quote-based at enquiry |
| Extended Komodo + Padar sunrise hike | 4D3N | Thu depart, Sun return ~15:00* | Ensuite twin/double | Quote-based at enquiry |
| Eastbound Flores arc (Komodo → Riung 17 Islands → Ende → Maumere) | 6D5N–8D7N | Seasonal scheduled + full-ship buyout | Ensuite + suite | Quote-based; expedition tier |
| Bali/Lombok crossing to Labuan Bajo | 7 nights | Seasonal Apr–Sep, all-inclusive | Ensuite cabin | Quote-based; premium tier** |
*Follows the standard Labuan Bajo scheduled rhythm run by operators such as Le Pirate Explorer — a 3-day/2-night trip departing every Monday and a 4-day/3-night departing every Thursday. Exact Arunika dates are confirmed at enquiry.
**Premium context per Aqua Expeditions’ 7-night Bali-to-Komodo voyage, which boards at Benoa Cruise Ship Terminal / North Jetty at 15:00 and disembarks at Le Bajo Flores in Labuan Bajo at 08:00.

How does expedition cruise booking work, step by step?
- Send your route and dates. Message Komodo Luxury’s reservations team with your preferred voyage, sailing window and cabin class. They return a per-person quote — prices are quote-based, not published.
- Hold your cabin with a 10% deposit. As on Le Pirate and comparable operators, a 10% non-refundable deposit secures the booking.
- Manage the balance. A further 25% is refundable only if you cancel 14 or more days before departure; the final 65%, plus Komodo National Park entrance fees, is non-refundable and due 14 days before you sail.
- Insure and check eligibility. Operators strongly recommend travel insurance covering cancellation, medical emergencies and disruption. Shared departures carry a minimum age of 16; families with younger children book a private full-ship charter instead.
- Arrive one day early. Fly into Komodo Airport (IATA: LBJ). Aqua Expeditions cites roughly a 15-minute transfer between the airport and Le Bajo Flores port, and operators advise arriving the day before to absorb flight delays.
- Meet and sail. Check in at the operator office around 09:00–09:30, depart 10:00 sharp, and return near 15:00 on your final day.
What do the deposit, balance and park fees actually cover?
The cruise fare covers your cabin, onboard meals, crew and the naturalist-led programme. Komodo National Park entrance fees are a separate, non-refundable line item paid on top of the fare. The park is managed by Balai Taman Nasional Komodo under Indonesia’s Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). Exact fee tables are not publicly citable and change periodically, so treat any figure you see online as provisional — Komodo Luxury quotes the current amount at booking.
For contrast only: budget shared “deck class” on 4-day Lombok–Flores–Komodo backpacker boats runs about IDR 1.5 million per person (roughly AUD 150), often with 40-plus passengers sleeping in the open air. That is an open-deck product covered by our sibling budget-boat resource — not what Arunika sells. Every Arunika berth is a private ensuite cabin.
When should you sail — and when should you book?
Aqua Expeditions sails the Bali–Komodo–Flores region April to September only, avoiding the rougher weather the rest of the year, and independent guides name April to June as the sweet spot: greener islands, thinner crowds and better underwater visibility. Plan your expedition inside that April–September window.
Book early. Expedition demand keeps climbing — Raja Ampat-to-Flores sailings are already scheduled for March 2027, a Smithsonian-style 2027 Indonesia cruise includes Flores and Komodo, and Labuan Bajo remains a government “super-premium” priority with port and marina upgrades tracked toward 2027. Peak-season cabins on the eastbound arc are the first to go.
Ready to hold an expedition departure?
Tell Komodo Luxury’s reservations team your preferred route, dates and cabin class. They confirm availability and return a per-person quote — there is no guaranteed pricing until your departure is confirmed in writing, and no guaranteed outcome for weather-dependent wildlife sightings.
